Anna was blessed this past weekend (Nov. 30). Since we had family near for Thanksgiving and some other scheduling conflicts we got permission to bless her on the 30th. It was great to have all of my family here (except Reese and Emily because they had had a baby the week before). Matthew's brother, sister, in-laws, and some nieces and nephews were able to come as well. It was fun having them at the house afterwards although it was a little cozy at times. The fun part about having a lot of brothers is it makes for a large blessing circle. Total between both families we had 12 men plus the bishopric who stood in as well. Yikes!

Anna's Arrival
Anna didn't come when or how we thought she would. My due date was October 18th and based on the fact the Shurtliff's tend to be born late I assumed that this baby would be the same. On Oct. 7 my doctor had me go and do a non-stress test (NST) which went fine. He decided he wanted me to do a second one the following week right before my next Dr.'s appointment. Well, that started a series of events that led to Anna being brought via emergency C-section on October 15. Some of the events were a "scoop" in the NST, the history of stillborns in my family, and the baby's heartbeat dropping from 150 to 60 beats. Although it was a scary afternoon/evening for us, we were both very happy that Anna arrived safely. Thank goodness for modern medicine. That is saying a lot coming from me as you know my herbal leanings.

Here we are!
I hadn't started a blog before because we really didn't have much to tell. Now that Anna is here I am sure we will have all sorts of stories to tell and pictures to show. Here goes nothing....
